About Me

Dr. Akan Efe was born on 2 November 1955 in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, in Nicosia. Her mother is Fatma, a housewife and her father is Cemal Efe, one of the well-known and beloved tradesmen of the city, in the area known as “Kyrenia Gate” in Nicosia. Cemal Efe is the owner of the coffee shop where Cyprus’ traditional Turkish coffee is served every day to hundreds of people, especially the late Rauf Denktaş, the president of the TRNC. This coffee shop had been like a school where Dr Akan Efe learned lessons on human relations in his early childhood and youth, and he discovered his passion for serving and pleasing people. This has become the motivation for his future communication with his patients in his entire professional life.

He completed his high school education at the Turkish High School in Nicosia with a degree as the top student every year. Playing accordion and playing zeybek were his favorite hobbies in high school years.

Dr. Akan Efe went to Istanbul at the age of 17 for university education.

After completing his medical and specialty training in Istanbul, he worked as an Internal Diseases Specialist for nearly 30 years in hospitals and private clinics bounded to The Republic of Turkey Ministry of Health.

Dr. Akan Efe first came to London in 1973 and continued to visit regularly after this date. These visits made a great contribution to his professional and personal development. In 2005, he passed the General Medical Council exam and got the license to practice medicine in the UK.
He moved to London with his family for his son’s education in 2015. Since this date, he has been eagerly serving all individuals from different ethnic origins of the society in North London in the light of all the knowledge and experience he has gained in his profession.

Hiking, nature, sea and traveling are his greatest passions. He loves to listen to Turkish music and classical music.
He is interested in Middle East and World History, Turkish-Islamic History and Geography.
He has visited more than 30 countries and more than 50 cities on many different continents around the world.
He is married with 3 children.
