Hypertension
Hypertension
High pressure exerted by the blood in the blood vessels against the vessel wall is defined as hypertension. Prolonged high blood pressure causes damage to the inner surface of the vessels. High blood pressure causing blockage, tearing or enlargement of the vessels disrupts blood flow and organ failure may occur. High blood pressure risk increases with advancing age. High blood pressure is usually first detected at the age of 35-50. However, for the group under the age of 50, it is more commonly seen among men while it is more common in women after 55 years of age. If you have complaints such as headache, shortness of breath, nosebleeds, tinnitus and chest pain, you should see a doctor.
The most appropriate blood pressure values to ensure adequate blood circulation in the body are accepted as systolic pressure 120 mmHg, diastolic pressure 80 mmHg.
Blood pressure should be measured regularly in order to avoid hypertension problems. Once the blood pressure is measured, a high value is not solely a sufficient data to diagnose one with blood pressure disease. First, the person should rest in an appropriate position for about 10 minutes before blood pressure is measured. Blood pressure should not be measured after intense physical activity or sudden mood changes. It is also important that the ambient temperature is ideal.
Once all conditions are met, blood pressure should be measured and the measurement should be from both arms. If the values obtained in the measurement results are 140/90 mmHg and above for a week or more, necessary health checks should be performed bin a health institution. However, if you have complaints such as headache, shortness of breath, nosebleeds, tinnitus and chest pain, you should see a doctor.
